Waking Up

Dan Riley’s debut album Waking Up was released on October 7, 2022.

Recorded in an old school bus in the backwoods of Ridgeville South Carolina, the songs on the album are raw and capture the emotion of Dan’s journey out of a religious cult while wrestling with feelings of grief, loss, abandonment, guilt, shame, and loneliness along with grit, determination, perseverance, and ultimately finding hope. The album takes the listener down the road Dan traveled to find himself in a place of peace, looking ahead to what may come from the growth. Running through all of his songs is an undercurrent of love. Love for the family and friends who shun him, for those who have shown him unconditional love, and love for his attempts and successes at giving himself the grace and understanding along the way.
